Dom’s Dog Grooming is the perfect place to bring your dog for a pampering and professional grooming experience. Based at The Boxes in Chapelton, Aberdeen, Dom is a skilled and caring dog groomer whose aim is to make every visit as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for your furry friend.

She offers a full range of core grooming services, including baths and blow-dries, along with essential hygiene and maintenance treatments such as teeth cleaning, ear cleaning and nail trimming. In addition, if you’re looking to pamper your pooch, you can choose from a range of deluxe spa treatments, including soothing mud baths and more!

We caught up with Dom to learn more about her services, the health benefits they provide and why she loves being part of the Chapelton community…

What inspired you to open your business in Chapelton, and how has the journey been so far?

“Chapelton is a vibrant, beautiful community, home to many dogs, so I realised there was a real need for a dog groomer.

“I’ll have been working in Chapelton for two years this August, and the time has flown by! It’s been lovely to be so warmly welcomed into the community, and I truly appreciate all the support from the residents. Over the past year, I’ve seen significant growth and have noticed an increasing demand for my offerings.”

What is your favourite thing about being situated in Chapelton, and what role does the community play in your day-to-day running of Dom’s Dog Grooming?

“I love working in Chapelton. The drive into work is always a highlight, as I get to see people going about their mornings – walking their dogs, taking children to school or to the local park, and generally enjoying community life. The Chapelton community plays a huge role in my business, as many of my clients are from the local area. I think the accessibility of the boxes makes it a welcoming space for anyone in the area. I’ve loved getting to know both the people and their dogs, and I look forward to continuing to help and grow alongside the community.”

Why is it important to get your dog regularly groomed?

“Regular grooming appointments are essential for various reasons, all of which contribute to keeping your dog happy and in good health. Regular grooming helps to maintain a hydrated coat and skin, keeps brushing and combing on track to prevent matting, and involves cleaning the ears to prevent ear infections. Trimming the nails also ensures your dog stays comfortable. Some dogs regulate their temperature through their coat, so it’s important to stay on top of their grooming schedule. During the grooming session, I also carry out a general health check, allowing any new lumps or abnormalities to be spotted and noted.”

Chapelton-1000-x-500-1-1024x512 Dom's Dog Grooming: Give your pooch the ultimate health and grooming experience

How do you cater your treatments and services for each individual dog and their specific breed?

“Different breeds have different coat types and therefore require grooming with specific tools and equipment. I stock a range of shampoos designed to suit various coat types and skin needs. For example, for dogs with sensitive skin, I use a milder, hypoallergenic shampoo. Each new dog receives a tailored grooming session, and I work closely with the owner to ensure the dog receives the best possible service for their comfort and happiness. There are also a selection of additional spa treatments available, such as mud baths to help with shedding coats, blueberry facials to help lighter breeds remove tear stains, and pawdicures to keep your pup’s paw pads soft and hydrated.”

What are the health benefits of a professional bath and blow-dry versus doing it at home?

“The equipment used in a dog grooming salon is typically of a higher quality than what is found at home or purchased from regular pet stores. For example, our hydro bathing system ensures a squeaky clean wash while also providing a soothing massage for the muscles. I’m also happy to offer advice and can recommend suitable products to support their ongoing grooming and wellbeing at home.

“As mentioned earlier, I also carry out a general health check on every dog that comes into the salon, so I will keep an eye on any changes to your dog’s health.”

How can grooming services be tailored to meet the health needs of puppies or senior dogs differently?

“All dogs need their grooming experience tailored to suit them and their individual needs – especially the young and the elderly. I offer a puppy induction package for puppies up to 9 months old, designed to gently ease the wee ones into the grooming experience.

“For our senior doggies, a little extra care is sometimes needed due to illness or disability. Grooming aids can provide support for elderly dogs, and often a longer, slower-paced appointment is required to ensure they are comfortable and well cared for throughout the process.”

dog3-1024x1024 Dom's Dog Grooming: Give your pooch the ultimate health and grooming experience

How important is ear cleaning and how can I tell if my dog needs it?

“Keeping your dog’s ears clean is very important for their overall health. If a dog’s ears aren’t cleaned regularly, wax – and in some breeds, even hair – can build up, leading to infections and potentially even hearing loss, not to mention general discomfort. You can usually tell if your dog’s ears need cleaning if they are scratching or shaking their head, or if there’s a noticeable smell or brown wax visible in the ear canal.”

What can regular teeth cleaning do for my dog’s overall health?

“Regular teeth cleaning helps prevent plaque build-up on your dog’s teeth and can reduce the risk of infection and gum disease. Not to mention, it helps keep that unpleasant doggy breath at bay!”

“Coming home” – Pat’s story of finding fulfilment at Landale Court in Chapelton

“As soon as I stepped foot inside Landale Court, I knew I’d come home.” Those were the heartfelt words from Pat, one of our cherished residents here at Landale Court. His sentiment perfectly captures the unique sense of belonging so many feel upon arriving at the vibrant Brio Retirement community offered at Chapelton.

After a rich life of family, career and personal growth, Pat has come full circle, returning to a part of the world that has always felt like home. He shared: “You never know what life may throw at you, but I’m embracing everything on offer here at Landale Court and I am finding life much more fulfilling now I live within this beautiful community.”

Born into a family with strong ties to farming, Pat pursued his passion for agriculture with a degree from Aberdeen University. His path later led him to London for a postgraduate qualification in plant physiology from Imperial College London. After marrying, he settled in Yorkshire, raised a family and built a rewarding career in the agricultural chemicals industry. Yet, Scotland was always calling him home.

Chapelton-Pat-1024x512 “Coming home” – Pat’s story of finding fulfilment at Landale Court in Chapelton

With the arrival of grandchildren and the desire to be closer to loved ones, Pat returned north to work at the local agricultural college, working his way up to a Senior Tutor before retiring. Today, he is a proud father to two sons, two stepsons and a doting grandfather to eight grandchildren scattered across the UK and beyond.

Expanding on his deep love for family, Pat spoke of how the devastating deterioration of his wife’s health prompted him to move to Landale Court: “You try your utmost, but I had become utterly exhausted, and my health began to suffer – it’s a very difficult decision to make but she’s ever so well looked after.”

Pat admits he struggled with loneliness without his wife and didn’t enjoy living alone. That’s when he made the decision to move to a community that offered independence, with the reassurance of care if or when it’s ever needed. From the moment he arrived, Pat felt something special. “Landale Court has it all,” he said.

Now settled into a spacious three-bedroom home in Phase 2, Pat enjoys the perfect balance of privacy, comfort and community. One room serves as his study, while another is ready for visiting family. His youngest son and grandchildren live just 20 miles away – close enough for spontaneous babysitting and cherished family time.

Far from slowing down, Pat has embraced all that Landale Court has to offer. From coffee mornings and quiz nights to themed events and the Chapelton Men’s social group, there’s always something on the calendar. This spring, he’s looking forward to joining the gardening club and digging into another of his lifelong passions. “I’ll be 80 in May, but I feel younger than I have done for a long time,” he beams.

That first visit sealed the deal for Pat. He said: “From the moment I stepped foot into Landale Court I knew I had to move here! The team is so welcoming and eager to help. The entire place is so relaxing because everyone is so easy going – nothing is ever too much trouble … a very different experience from other retirement developments I’d viewed previously!”

What really sets Landale Court apart for Pat – and for many of our residents – is the peace of mind it brings. He said: “I moved here with my long-term head on – thinking I may not be as able in the future, but for now I’m very independent and plan to stay that way! It’s also peace of mind for my kids too – knowing support can be on my doorstep within minutes if I ever need it. We all feel much more content and that’s how life should feel.”

He concluded: “I must say how delighted I am to be here – the staff are just wonderful and go out of their way each and every day to make life here so easy and enjoyable. I had a small fall a little while ago and the team were amazing – attending to me immediately and they came to check the bump on my knee the next day too. I really can’t express how appreciative I am of all they do – everyone is so jolly and it’s a pleasure to be in their company. Our General Manager, Morag, and her entire team are just superb. I genuinely cannot recommend Landale Court highly enough to anyone. I’m very, very happy I came home.”

Brio Retirement at Landale Court is a community dedicated to improving the quality and experience of later life. It features a community hub with a range of facilities including Slate & Grain Brasserie and Bar, wellbeing suite, arts and crafts room, a Club House for events and socialising, and more.

Brio has built retirement living with your needs at heart, whether that be living an independent lifestyle, or with more tailored care if required. Homes start at £173,250, with renting options also available.

How to select the right house builder for you in Aberdeen

Buying a new home is one of the most exciting and significant investments you’ll make in your lifetime. If you’re considering a new build, choosing the right house builder in Aberdeen can make all the difference in turning your dream home into reality!

At Chapelton, we understand that a home is more than bricks and mortar – it’s about lifestyle, community and craftsmanship. That’s why it’s important to partner with a house builder who aligns with your vision and delivers exceptional quality.

For those exploring house builders in Aberdeen and the surrounding areas, here are some essential steps – and insights into why Chapelton might be the perfect place to begin your journey:

1. Research local expertise

Aberdeen and its surrounding areas, such as the vibrant community of Chapelton, have a unique architectural style, locally sourced materials and planning regulations. Look for builders with extensive experience building homes in the local area.

Builders familiar with Aberdeen’s climate and community standards can make a big difference when it comes to ensuring compliance with local requirements, sourcing materials suited to the local climate and building homes that blend seamlessly with the landscape.

2. Check references and reviews

Word of mouth is still one of the best ways to find a reliable house builder. Ask for references, speak with previous home owners or explore online reviews to learn more about the builder’s reputation. Satisfied homeowners often highlight qualities like reliability, attention to detail and professionalism.

The award-winning builders in Chapelton – AJC Homes, Snowdrop Developments, Brio Retirement Living and Places for People – have consistently received high praise for their craftsmanship, attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.

Pro tip: Visit showhomes or completed developments to see the builder’s work firsthand.

3. Explore design and customisation options

Not all builders offer the same level of flexibility. Some may provide fixed designs, while others offer customisation opportunities. Think about what matters most to you: Are you looking for energy-efficient materials? Open-plan living? A traditional or contemporary look?

At Chapelton, our house builders offer a wide range of home styles and layouts, from cosy cottages to spacious family homes. Builders here combine traditional architecture with modern features, ensuring homes are both charming and practical.

4. Understand the warranty and aftercare

A reputable house builder will offer a solid warranty and responsive aftercare services. Look into what’s included, how long the warranty lasts and how any snagging issues are resolved post-completion.

When choosing a house builder in Aberdeen, peace of mind is just as important as the design itself.

5. Incentives and financial support

Some builders offer incentives such as LBTT contributions, part-exchange options or upgrades on finishes. While this shouldn’t be your sole deciding factor, it’s worth comparing what different builders in Aberdeen have to offer.

Why Chapelton stands out in the Aberdeen housing market

Choosing the right location is just as important as choosing the right builder. Just 10 miles south of Aberdeen, Chapelton is a growing town designed with community and sustainability at its core.

Chapelton’s house builders are carefully selected for their commitment to quality, innovation and a deep understanding of how to build homes – not just houses. The town offers a unique living experience with homes designed to foster community living while respecting the natural surroundings. With green spaces, shops and cafés all within walking distance, Chapelton is more than a place to live – it’s a place to belong.

Spending time outdoors: Celebrating the fantastic green spaces around Chapelton!

Shared outdoor spaces are a vital part of our small but mighty village community here at Chapelton. With a strong sense of togetherness and a commitment to sustainability, spending time outdoors plays an important role in the lives of all our residents, young and old alike. Designed and developed to encourage walking and eco-friendly living, Chapelton offers a variety of beautiful green spaces for everyone to enjoy.

From footpaths and landscaped parks to community gardens and growing woodlands, our outdoor areas are thoughtfully created to bring people together. These spaces are not only perfect for recreation but also serve as gathering points for events, celebrations, and initiatives that strengthen our community spirit.

Whether it’s visiting our playparks, meeting a neighbour for a dog walk, or joining family to take part in community-driven projects like the annual tree planting, outdoor life lies at the heart of Chapelton. This connection to nature and one another is what helps make our village such a vibrant and welcoming place to live.

In this blog, we’re marking a milestone at this year’s tree planting event and sharing updates on our green spaces – including how residents have come together to make a lasting contribution to our newest green space, the junior play park.

Tree planting

Chapelton’s annual tree planting initiative, organised by the Elsick Development Company, continues to be a key part of our community’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Each spring, new residents are invited to plant trees in the 10-acre Chapelton Community Woods, located between Chapelton and Newtonhill. The programme not only supports the conservation of natural resources but also helps plant and grow connections within our blossoming community.

3-1024x768 Spending time outdoors: Celebrating the fantastic green spaces around Chapelton!

This year’s event marked the 9th year of the programme and included the planting of our 2,000th tree. This milestone tree was planted on Mother’s Day by a mother and daughter duo – a meaningful moment that will be cherished for years to come.

Junior play park coming soon

Exciting news… the brand-new junior play park in Chapelton is nearly complete and expected to open in time for the summer holidays. Below, you can see the sketches and plans created by Simmons of Scott + Simmons Landscape Architects.

Willow weaving

Recently, our wonderful community came together for an ancient craft workshop led by Peter Holmes of Rural Skills Training and his team. As one of the final steps in creating our newest park, residents joined in using traditional willow weaving techniques to frame the area – learning something new while lending a helping hand.

Now, with just the play equipment to install and the ground to be seeded, we’re nearly ready to welcome everyone in the coming months. We can’t wait to see residents and visitors enjoying this new green space. Stay tuned for official updates on the grand opening of our junior park!

Preparing for the Chapelton of Elsick 10K: Your step-by-step guide

The annual Chapelton of Elsick 10K is one of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s most eagerly anticipated running events. On 13th July 2025, runners from Chapelton and beyond will take on this fantastic multi-terrain race.

Starting and finishing in the heart of Chapelton, the route offers a scenic mix of tarmac roads, farm tracks, and a short grass section, making it both challenging yet rewarding. Whether you’re a seasoned runner chasing a personal best, or a first-timer looking to simply cross the finish line, preparing for this 10K is all about the right training, no matter your ability. Whether you’re training solo, with a friend or alongside the Chapelton Running Group, a well-structured approach will help you feel strong, confident and ready to enjoy race day.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through simple yet effective steps to get race-ready – so you can hit the ground running!

Cookney-Rd-1024x683 Preparing for the Chapelton of Elsick 10K: Your step-by-step guide

Step 1: Set your goals

Are you aiming to smash a personal best or simply enjoy the experience? Decide on a target pace, whether you’ll incorporate walk breaks and what success looks like for you. Having a clear goal will help you stay focused and motivated throughout your training, and help you tailor a training plan that suits your needs.

Step 2: Create a training plan

Starting and committing to a training plan around 6-8 weeks prior will set you up for success. Aim for 3-4 runs per week, including easy runs to build endurance, faster runs to improve pace, and long runs to build stamina and get your mind and body used to the full race distance. If this is your first 10K, gradually increase your distance over time to avoid injury. Slow and steady wins the race!

Step 3: Don’t forget about strength and conditioning

Running is only part of the equation! Incorporating cross-training activities like cycling, swimming, yoga, pilates, or strength training into your plan will help improve overall fitness and prevent injuries.

Before and after running, it’s important to include bodyweight exercises like squats and lunges to warm up and cool down. These exercises strengthen and stretch the muscles used in running, improving flexibility, and further reducing the risk of injury.

Step 4: Get comfortable with the terrain

The Chapelton 10K crosses various terrains, so try not to train solely on the treadmill. Mix up your training by incorporating outdoor runs on tarmac, farm tracks, and grass as well as routes with hills or inclines to prepare for the course’s elevation changes. The more specific your training, the better you’ll handle the terrain on race day. If possible, we also recommend trying the route at least once before the race to ensure you’re fully prepared for what’s ahead.

Step 5: Reduce your running ahead of the race day

In the final week of your training plan, reduce your mileage to allow your body time to recover. Focus on rest, light runs, proper nutrition and selecting the right running gear for the big day. Though it might seem counterintuitive, this will help prevent injury and ensure you’re fresh, energised, and ready to perform your best on race day. A well-rested runner is a faster and happier runner!

Why take part?

The Chapelton of Elsick 10K isn’t just about running, it’s about community spirit, personal achievement and (let’s be honest) the post-run cakes! But don’t just take our word for it – here’s what past participants had to say:

“A superbly organised event. Thanks to all the volunteers who make this possible.”

“I really like this course – the variety of sights and surfaces, minimal traffic, and the hills. One of the top 10Ks in the region, I reckon.”

“Brilliant event, amazing cakes and I love this year’s medal! Thank you to all the organisers and marshalls.”

“The St Cyrus Solos Running Club loved it! Thanks to everyone involved in today’s event.”

“Loved it. Love the medal. Love the cakes. Love the spirit of it all and so well organised. All for a great cause too!”

Inside RedRocks at Chapelton: Bespoke accessories and mindfulness gifts

Less than a 20-minute drive from Aberdeen’s city centre, the bustling town of Chapelton offers residents not only beautiful new homes and plentiful green spaces, but also a thriving variety of independent businesses.

The Boxes provides a unique and creative hub for start-ups, allowing them to expand their presence. Among them is RedRocks, a haven of bespoke bridal accessories, handcrafted jewellery and mindfulness gifts.

Since founder Claire first opened RedRocks in a small unit in 2021 – expanding to a double unit in 2023 – it has blossomed into a true gem of the Chapelton community.

We recently sat down with Claire to find out all about RedRocks and the inspiration behind launching her business in Chapelton…

What inspired you to open RedRocks at The Boxes in Chapelton, and how has the journey been so far?

“Having worked from home for 10 years, I’d always dreamed of having an exclusive space to work. In 2021, we were at a crossroads – debating whether to build a big cabin in our garden or find a space to lease. When the opportunity at The Boxes arose, it was divine timing! It offered a workshop, consultation and retail space close to home with a quirky edge – the perfect solution.

“I opened my first small box in September 2021, focusing on my bridal design service and a selection of jewellery from myself and a few other designers. By early 2022, after the loss of my father, I felt drawn to integrate my personal passion for crystal healing and mindfulness practices into the shop. It was a huge success and when a larger box became available, it felt like the natural step to take it on. By March 2023, I launched RedRocks v2.0.”

What sort of products and services does RedRocks offer?

“I continue to design and create jewellery and hair accessories for weddings, a craft I have been perfecting for nearly 14 years. Couples can visit the shop for one-on-one consultations, browse collections, or purchase pre-made pieces off the shelf. I also stock an ever-changing selection of jewellery from various designers, catering to a range of styles and budgets.

“My mindfulness and holistic offerings include an array of crystals, from tumbled stones to rare tektite specimens and large Madonna geodes. There is a beautifully curated selection of fascinating books, tarot card decks, natural self-care products, hand-poured gemstones, plant medicine candles, incense in many forms and an extensive aromatherapy range with over 50 essential and carrier oils. I also stock spiritual and Wiccan tools alongside beautiful gifts.”

You host a variety of events at Chapelton – what kind of experiences can visitors expect when they attend an event here?

“It’s vitally important to me that all my events are inclusive and non-judgemental, creating a space where people feel safe to explore practices and experiences they may have been curious about but hesitant to try. Visitors can expect to find a warm and nurturing space with workshops and practices led by experienced practitioners.

“2024 saw the launch of such events and by the end of the year, I’d racked up over 20 evenings full of beautiful energy and wisdom. These included sound baths, tarot workshops, homeopathy sessions, seasonal circles, breathwork journeys and solstice celebrations. In 2025, the plan is to ramp it up even more!”

Can you share one or two memorable events you’ve hosted recently?

“In December, I teamed up with my wonderful friend Emma of Enlight Healing, a former Chapelton pop-up box tenant, to host a beautiful Winter Solstice Circle. It was an evening of calm atmosphere with guided meditation, breathwork, sharing time and candle magic – the energy created by such loving and like-minded souls is magical.

“In February, I hosted a ‘Hexes and Heart Openers’ event with Jo from Joyoga for Valentine’s Day. It was a fantastic blend of heart chakra charging and opening, yoga, meditation, sound work and ‘love potion’ herbal tea. Guests also got to create their own love-inspired spell jar using crystals and herbs.”

What is your favourite thing about being situated in Chapelton, and what role does the community play in your day-to-day running of RedRocks?

“Chapelton is all about community and it became clear very quickly when I opened the shop three and a half years ago how rewarding it was to become part of this wonderful network. The support from locals has been incredible and I’ve made so many lovely friends along the way. Even the kids here are regular visitors!

“RedRocks is more than just a shop; it’s a space where people can visit for a break, a bit of release, a chat, moan, bosie or cry – with no purchase necessary. I love contributing to the wonderful community events in the growing town and collaborating with Natalie, the Chapelton Community Association, as well as fellow business owners. Being part of incredible events like the Christmas light switch-on has been such a joy.”

Looking ahead, what exciting new initiatives or events do you have planned for RedRocks?

“This year is already shaping up to be a busy one! I’ve hosted two events so far, with plans for another five and several other exciting collaborations in discussion – I could definitely use more than 24 hours in a day!

“I will soon be hosting my own crystal workshops after completing my crystal healing training. It’s something I’ve been asked about for ages, so I’m excited to finally make it happen. In April, we have another Breathwork Journey booked with Nicola Cook of The Breathwork Goddess, and several seasonal celebration circles already scheduled through July. And of course, there’s much more to come!”

Devenick Drinks: The cornerstone of Chapelton’s social scene

Chapelton is home to a diverse range of independent businesses, each adding to the town’s vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. From cosy cafes and salons to barbers and dog groomers, there’s always something new to discover.

At the heart of this lively town centre, nestled within The Boxes, is Devenick Drinks – a unique craft bottle shop and fully licensed taproom offering an ever-evolving selection of locally and nationally sourced beers, ciders and spirits.

Since co-founders Andy and Bryan opened the doors in 2022, Devenick Drinks has become a cornerstone of Chapelton’s social scene, providing a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can gather and enjoy a drink in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. More than just a place to grab a pint, it has grown into a true community hub – hosting events, supporting local causes and collaborating with fellow businesses to bring something truly special to the town.

We caught up with Andy to discuss the inspiration behind launching a craft drinks business in Chapelton and what customers can expect when visiting…

What made you choose Chapelton as the home for Devenick Drinks?

“Talk about timing – we had just turned down the opportunity to take on a retail unit in the Rosemount area of Aberdeen, when (on the very same day), I received a call from Caroline Fife telling me that a unit had become available at the Chapelton Box Park, and if we would be interested in taking it. This had come about as we’d previously enquired about exhibiting at the Chapelton Farmers Market but there was a backlog of businesses waiting to get in, so we were offered a slot in one of the pop-up units at the box park instead. We met Caroline for a chat and by the 1st December 2022 we opened our inaugural Craft Bottle Shop in Chapelton. As the age old saying goes, the rest is history!”

How has the Chapelton community responded to The Taproom since you opened?

“Well, we started with one unit and now we have three, so I think that speaks volumes to the response we’ve received. The day we opened coincided with the Christmas lights switch on and we never stopped from the minute we opened till the minute we closed. We then decided to run a trial ‘pub night’ at the hut across the road from the box park and it was mental! We generally thought the wheels were about to fall off as we were overwhelmed by the volume of folk that turned up! It did however, show us that the community was crying out for a social space, especially as much of the community had never properly met so many of their neighbours due to the pandemic. As well as the Chapelton community, we also receive a lot of support from the nearby towns and communities such as Newtonhill, Stonehaven, Muchalls, Netherley and Portlethen.”

What do you love most about being part of the Chapelton community?

“There’s a lot of community spirit here, and we had received a very warm welcome – and we like to think it wasn’t just the booze doing the talking! We’re aware that our business model is a little different when compared to traditional village pubs but even the most avid of Tennent’s drinkers have accepted our vision and have bought into the products we offer.”

What kind of private events have you hosted, and how does The Taproom bring people together?

“We’ve hosted birthday parties, local choirs, the Chapelton 10K club and various social groups. The Taproom is more than just a place to enjoy a drink – it’s a space where the wider community, friends and family come together to share great local drinks and lively conversation. When setting up the Taproom, we believed that it should not only be about the products we served, but also about the people we serve. We wanted to create a centre point for the community – somewhere that was quirky, yet homely – somewhere you’d want to spend a significant amount of time socialising and having fun, and from the feedback and reviews we’ve received, I think it’s going alright so far…”

You’ve been hosting brunches with Brae – can you tell us more about this?

“We’re always looking to add new dynamics to the Taproom. We like to keep offering folk a reason to come out. The brunch idea was something we’d been kicking about for a good while. We had wanted to ensure it was a well-rounded experience and not just cold sausage rolls on a napkin, which is why we reached out to Jodie at Brae to support us with the food side of things. Jodie and Dale have curated the perfect pairing to complement our brunch experience. It also has the added benefit of allowing us to collaborate with local businesses, something that is very much part of the fabric of Devenick Drinks. We’ve only hosted a few brunches to date (with more scheduled throughout 2025) but the feedback has been fantastic – just check the reviews on our social media and google business pages!”

You’ve raised money for local causes – can you tell us more about this?

“It was important for us to give back to the community and customers that have supported our business from the beginning. The Chapelton Community Association was one of the first charities we donated to. Gillian Steven, a lovely regular of ours, has brought events and customers to our Taproom through the CCA and always reaches out to ensure that we’re part of any community-based events. Charlie Craig, another regular of ours, and an all-round top bloke is the founding member of the Chapelton Men’s Group – another local charity that we selected for donation.

“As mentioned, we have a great band of loyal customers from Newtonhill and one of them, Barry McIntosh, is heavily involved with Newtonhill Football Club and he told us about flood damage and blocked pipes to the kids changing rooms, so we directed some of the donations to help them out. We’ve also supported several other charities such as the Chapelton Over 60’s Club and Chapelton of Elsick 10K. We can’t take full credit though, as the awesome Jo and Lynn from Fired Up Pizza’s, who we added to enhance our taproom experience, donate cash from the total pizza’s sold when they’re on site, and they give us the honour of directing it towards a charity of our choice. When they told us about their generosity, we decided to match their donations pound for pound, allowing the total to double and spread further.”

For someone new to Chapelton or visiting for the first time, why should they stop by The Taproom?

From crisp and refreshing lagers to robust and complex IPA’s and stouts, our taproom features an ever-changing lineup of craft beers, including local favourites and limited-edition releases from renowned breweries. Our adjoining Craft Bottle Shop also has an extensive collection of local, national and UK wide beers, ciders and spirits to choose from – most of which you will not find on a supermarket shelf! We also have products from local coffee brewers and cocktail makers.”
