Christmas Celebrations Come to Chapelton

Chapelton is set to host a range of Christmas events to help local residents and those living nearby get into the festive spirit.

Residents and visitors alike can enjoy a tree switch on and celebration sponsored by Liberty Retirement Living, a wreath decorating workshop in partnership with florist Kim Dalglish and festive meals throughout December at popular cafe Teacake.

There’s no better time than Christmas to indulge in your favourite food and drink. Whether you would like to sip on a glass of mulled wine, nibble on a selection of cheeses or enjoy a rich pudding, Teacake in Chapelton has the ultimate Christmas menu to indulge in this festive season.

Throughout December the popular café is offering festive lunch specials and cakes during the day as well as a Christmas evening menu which is available Friday and Saturday evenings. Private bespoke dining is also available for up to 20 people.

How to prepare your home for winter

Gut your gutters

A factor often overlooked when it comes to home maintenance is ensuring that water is drained correctly. Check your roof gutters and ground-level drainage for any signs of blockage, such as weeds or leaves, and ensure these are clear to draw away the worst of the water flow as ice and snow melts.

Get salty

A quick and effective way to combat ice on your driveway is to sprinkle salt on areas surrounding your home. Ensure that your driveway, heavily-used paths and steps are covered to improve traction and quickly dissolve ice.

Welcome wildlife

As winter sets in, the availability of food for local wildlife can decline. You can play your part by hanging bird feeders and keeping bird baths topped up to encourage them to flock to your garden.

Teacake reopens in Chapelton under new management

Chapelton’s favourite café Teacake is set to reopen under new management this weekend, on Saturday 4 November at 10:00am.

Aberdeenshire locals Bob and Stephanie Miller, from Muchalls, will be putting their own stamp on the business while retaining the key features which have made Teacake a success.

The couple are excited to get underway with new opportunities for Teacake, while building upon the popular features of the current café.  The business will be retaining its famous name as well as the popular range of treats on offer, with new offerings to be brought in later down the line.

Opening days will continue as usual throughout November as Wednesday to Sunday. Family meal nights will be introduced on Wednesday and Thursdays in December, with Christmas dining during the festive period on Friday and Saturday evenings.

All at Chapelton would like to thank Anita and Duncan Collin for their hard work to date in making Teacake a success and contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of the town.
