Key events in Chapelton for 2024
With 2024 off to a flying start, we have an exciting programme of family-friendly events to look forward to over the coming months – all of which are well-loved activities in the Chapelton calendar!
Previously drawing in a variety of visitors both locally and from further afield, this year will be no different with our community-driven events for everybody to enjoy…
Chapelton Farmers’ Markets – Sunday 19th May, 21st July, 15th September, 17th November
As winter draws to a close, we’re gearing up for springtime when our popular Chapelton farmers’ market returns, with the first event taking place on Sunday 19th May. Held four times a year, the Chapelton farmers’ market showcases a selection of incredible local businesses and offers both residents and visitors the chance to stock up (and fill up!) on an array of fresh local produce.
Situated in Burgess Park and open from 11:30am – 2pm, the market will feature some familiar faces including All About Lemons and Farm to Table alongside welcoming some new stallholders too.
Both entry to the market and parking is conveniently located and free of charge!
Chapelton 10K – Sunday 14th July
It’s time to dust off your running shoes as our most anticipated running event of the year returns! The Chapelton 10K will be taking place on Sunday 14th July, spanning a stretch of multi-terrain through the beautiful Elsick House estate before finishing back in Chapelton. For those starting 2024 with a New Year’s resolution to keep fit – this event is for you…
The perfect opportunity to challenge yourself whilst raising money for many good causes, the Chapelton 10K also offers participants stunning views of the local countryside, as well as an incredible atmosphere filled with music and crowds of supporters cheering you on.
Remember – there will be trophies and a cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female runners, alongside bespoke medals for everybody participating. And last but not least, the return of the legendary home bakes and refreshment stand.
Chapelton Scarecrow Festival – August 2024
Running throughout the month of August, Chapelton’s annual Scarecrow Festival, organised by the Cairnhill Allotments Committee, will make its eagerly-awaited return! Now approaching its 6th year, the festival helps to raise money for both community projects and much-loved Chapelton events.
Taking place all around the town, we recommend following the map of Chapelton at Hume Square to begin your Scarecrow Festival tour. From here, you can also grab a coffee and treat at Brae Cafe or Slate and Grain – the perfect way to start your scarecrow hunt!
Remember to vote for your favourite scarecrow (or scarecrows) either online or by paper vote at Fits the Scoop at The Boxes, or Brae Cafe located in Hume Square…

Chapelton Bike Ride – Sunday 1st September
Occurring on Sunday 1st September, cyclists are invited to take part in the annual Chapelton Bike Ride! Individuals, teams and families will be given the choice of participating in either the 12 or 46 mile route starting in Chapelton and through the surrounding countryside. All money raised will be donated to North East Sensory Services.
For those looking to take part on foot – there will also be a family-friendly alternative 5km Trail Walk through the gorgeous grounds of Elsick House.
