Chapelton’s year in review 2022

Throughout 2022, the vibrant town of Chapelton has continued to thrive. From a number of new homes being built by five high quality developers, to welcoming new residents to the community and adding more businesses to the ever-growing list of amenities, it’s fair to say this year has been a busy one.

It’s hard to pick our favourite moment, but after some reflection, we’ve recapped some of this year’s milestones. Check out the blog below for an update on what’s been happening this year in Chapelton

  • More than 100 new homes are either completed or under construction

There has been a large increase in the number of homes built throughout the course of the year, with more than 100 either completed or in progress to be finished by early 2023.

Chapelton is an ambitious town and while we’re currently in the very early stages of the masterplan, the design team has been paying close attention to future phases which will see different neighbourhoods form and more retail, office, community buildings and of course green spaces be created.

AJC Homes, Brio Retirement, Places for People, Snowdrop Developments and Stephen, are all building a range of charming, luxury homes that encompass traditional character with modern living across a variety of sizes. With plenty layouts, styles and sizes to choose from, Chapelton has a home design to suit any buyer’s requirements, all while being located just a short distance from both Aberdeen and Stonehaven.

You can read more about the masterplan here.

  • The community continued to grow with more than 120 residents moving to town

One thing we pride ourselves on in Chapelton is promoting a strong sense of community. Homes and streetscapes have been designed with neighbourhood friendliness in mind, and with more and more residents moving in, it’s wonderful to see strong relationships and friendships being established throughout the town.

This year alone, we’ve welcomed more than 120 new residents to the area, but it’s not just people we’ve welcomed, pets in all shapes and sizes have joined too! Meet the pets of Chapelton here

  • We took a major step forward with the plans for a local primary school

As Chapelton continues to expand, we’re incredibly pleased to have progressed the plan for a local primary school. Still in early planning stages, we’ve been working with Aberdeenshire Council which has announced the building will be in place for 2026. This facility will be so important to the town residents and will further the amenities Chapelton has to offer.

  • Patey Park launched, furthering adventure and education

In May this year, we unveiled our brand new natural playground, Patey Park! Found at the top of Cairnhill in the heart of Chapelton, the park offers a new space for Chapelton residents and visitors to explore and has been specifically designed to offer fun, creative and unstructured play for children.

Featuring a series of winding paths, mounds and slopes, rocks and boulders, logs, tree stumps and balance beam, it’s the perfect place for young adventurers to learn physical skills as well as encourage the development of motor, sensory and social skills.

  • There was a full and diverse events calendar
unnamed-1 Chapelton’s year in review 2022

From January to December 2022, Chapelton and its residents have supported, organised and run a wide range of events for all ages.

Family-orientated activities such as The Easter Egg Hunt and our Scarecrow Festival encouraged residents to explore new streets, meet new people and unleash a bit of creativity and friendly-competitiveness. It’s fair to say we were blown away with some of this year’s entries for the Scarecrow Festival, check out some of the 2022 entries here.

Charitable sporting events such as the 10K run in July raised money for local schools and charities and The Bike ride during September fundraised for North East Sensory Services. During both events, spectators spanned the streets cheering on family and friends and created a buzz around the town while enjoying local amenities for breaks and refreshments.
The ever popular Farmers’ Markets in May, July and September drew in the crowds to celebrate incredible local suppliers and try new produce. Find out more about the Farmers’ Markets here.

  • We welcomed a number of businesses!

Between our retail units and The Boxes, we’re proud to have a number of commercial premises on offer for local businesses to lease. This year alone we’ve been able to welcome three new companies to The Boxes, refill and fresh produce store, Replenish, reflexology provider, AWBR and craft beers, hops and spirits store, Devenick Drinks.

Additionally, some businesses have even expanded! Fitness expert, Paul Hosie PT, has moved from The Boxes to the Brio Retirement gym to cater for demand through the use of a larger premises and popular ice cream parlour, FITS the SCOOP has advanced to a double box to increase stock variety.

Beauty salon, The Lounge, is also growing and will be relocating to a brand new retail unit on Liddell Place, allowing for Croft Nurseries to take up residence in The Lounge’s previous location in Hume Square.

The Boxes are a unique style of unit which act as the perfect testing ground for many up and coming businesses and are the ideal starting point before moving to a permanent retail space.

Overall, it’s been quite the year! With plenty of exciting projects and developments in the pipeline for 2023, we can’t wait to see what next year’s progression looks like for the town.
