Follow the trail: Chapelton’s Scarecrow Festival returns!
August means one thing in Chapelton… the Scarecrow Festival is back!
Chapelton’s much-loved Scarecrow Festival is in full swing, with colourful and creative scarecrows popping up all over the town and lining the streets. This year’s theme is ‘Freestyle’, giving residents the freedom to let their imaginations run wild and create a scarecrow inspired by whatever they like.
Running until the 31st August, the festival, organised by the Scarecrows of Chapelton committee, invites residents to get creative and build their very own scarecrow, while visitors are encouraged to come along, explore the town and see how many they can spot. The festival is brought to life each year thanks to the time, creativity and hard work of the committee and everyone who gets involved.
Whether you’re making a day of it with the family or simply fancy a wander around Chapelton, there’s plenty to discover along the way. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore as a variety of scarecrows can be found – from dinosaurs to cartoon classics and even celebrities! You can also take a look through all of this years’ creations over on the Scarecrows of Chapelton Facebook page.
The committee has also made it easy to make sure you don’t miss any of the creative displays. Scarecrow trail checklists are available from Brae and the phone box, with a map of Chapelton in Hume Square to help you find your way around.
Once you’ve completed the trail, don’t forget to cast your vote for your favourite! Voting is open until 31st August, with funds raised through the festival split between the winners’ chosen charities.
Voting slips can also be picked up from Brae or the phone box, or you can vote online here:
A huge thank you goes to the Scarecrows of Chapelton committee for all the work that goes into the festival and bringing this much-loved community event to life each year.
Grab your family and friends, follow the trail and see how many scarecrows you can spot!
