We recently ran a survey, which you may have seen promoted on posters around local businesses and community spaces, inviting both residents and visitors to share what they value most about our bustling town. With more than 80 responses, the results painted a clear picture of what makes Chapelton such a special place to live, work and spend time.

The responses came from a mix of local residents, business owners and visitors, offering a snapshot of day-to-day life in Chapelton as well as the impressions it leaves on those who visit. From its strong sense of community to its charming design and green spaces, the feedback showed that you loved Chapelton just as much as we do.

A community that truly feels like home

One of Chapelton’s strongest qualities is its genuine sense of community. Many respondents spoke about the warmth and friendliness the town is known for. As one person shared, “We moved to Chapelton due to the community feel we experienced from our very first visit.”

Neighbours look out for one another and several local businesses play an active role in community life. The local pub, Devenick Drinks, was described as “a great place for getting to know your neighbours,” where you felt welcomed instantly. It’s this warmth that keeps people rooted. As one resident put it, “It’s home now and I want to stay here long term.”

A safe and family friendly place to grow

Many families choose to stay in Chapelton due to its safety, calm environment and the freedom it gives children to play and explore. One parent shared, “I feel as though my daughter and friends can play and be safe.”

The town’s layout, green spaces and walkable streets are ideal for young families. Another resident noted, “Chapelton is a lovely place to be raising a young child. There are so many places to explore, safe streets and a great community feel” while another added: “It’s been a great, safe space for my kids to grow up – we’ve been here for ten years and the kids are now in their mid-teens.”

It’s clear that residents take pride in being an inclusive and responsible community, as one person shared: “It’s a clean, tidy and safe place to live, with family-friendly events on your doorstep.”

For many, this balance of safety and family friendly living is exactly what makes Chapelton such a desirable place to lay down roots.

Character, charm and thoughtful design

Chapelton’s carefully crafted design and thoughtful layout are defining features, appreciated by both residents and visitors. Many mentioned how the town’s architecture and layout sets it apart, with the houses described as being “designed well with a wow factor.”

People appreciate how the town felt unique, with a character all of its own. One resident described it as “a quaint town full of character… an enjoyable place to live with small shops, a nice community feel and enjoyable green spaces.”

Another captured the atmosphere perfectly: “The way that the houses are designed makes it look like a quaint village which is well maintained and looked after.”

Even those who do not live here feel drawn to its charm. “Chapelton has a lovely feel. We love going there for coffee and a wander round.”

The best of both worlds

Chapelton offers a rare blend of rural tranquillity and everyday convenience. Many residents enjoy the feeling of being away from the bustle of the city while still remaining well connected.

One comment summed it up well: “I enjoy the feel of being out of the city but with close proximity.” Another added, “We like that it feels out in the country but really it’s not far from Aberdeen city.”

With cafés, small shops, green spaces and essential amenities within easy reach, there was a sense of balance to life here. As one visitor said, “The location and facilities are really special.” Another remarked, “My sister lives in Chapelton. I love coming to visit her as the location and facilities are really special.”

A particular highlight for both residents and visitors is Brae. As one resident shared, “I love a trip to Brae and a look around RedRocks at The Boxes,” while a visitor echoed the sentiment, saying, “I love the farmers markets and also Brae.”
