Elsick Development Company is now calling on hotel operators to submit proposals. It believes a hotel in first stage of Chapelton will serve the town while helping to meet Aberdeen’s growing demand for hotel beds.
Lord Southesk, director of EDC, said: “We are building a new, unique town just five miles from the city and in doing so we have the opportunity to support the growth of the region, both with housing and commercial opportunities.
“In Aberdeen demand for hotel beds often exceeds supply, as is the case for new homes.
“According to accountancy firm BDO, Aberdeen hotels command the highest room rate outside London, with occupancy sitting above 75 per cent. We know a number of operators are looking for sites in the area and we are developing a proposition to meet their needs.”
Work is well underway on Phase 1 of homes at Chapelton and businesses and the first homeowners will collect their keys within the next few months.
A number of businesses, including a nursery school and dentist are due to open early next year. Further business opportunities will soon be marketed to other retailers and businesses.
EDC is hoping to attract a hotel operator that shares its vision for design and sustainability:
“EDC’s vision is for Chapelton is to deliver a truly sustainable, design-led community created for modern living. We have installed strict design guidelines for house-builders to ensure homes are attractive and fit with the character of the site.
“Similarly we are looking for a high quality hotel operator willing to create an individual and attractive development on the site, which is adjacent to the A90 and just ten minutes’ drive from Aberdeen.
“In return we are providing an opportunity in high quality surroundings with lots of green space, local facilities, superfast broadband and transport links to the city centre.”
