Minibeast Scavenger Hunt (under 12s): Sunday 20 May, 11.00 – 12.30
Meeting at the new woodland planting Nether Cairnhill
Slaters, slugs, beetles and bugs. Come along and discover the smaller residents of the community woodland at Chapelton.
Within the Chapelton community wood children will have the opportunity to scavenge for minibeasts in the long grass, gorse bushes and dry stane dyke.
A Wildlife Wander (adults): Sunday 20 May, 1.30 – 3.30
Meeting where the Trail begins on the Causey Mounth at the entrance to Chapelton.
Relax listen to the birds and take a closer look at nature on this gentle stroll wildlife spotting along part of the Chapelton Trail. Please bring binoculars if you have them, the ranger will have a few to borrow for the walk.
This walk will be on the west side of the Chapelton Trail heading down the perimeter of the grounds at Elsick House to the drive, before turning and heading back up. Participants will hopefully see skylarks and other birds in the fields as well as bumblebees and other pollinators on the rhododendrons, some of which may be in flower, as well as a variety of different tree species.
Both of these free events will be led by Helen Young, Countryside Ranger for Kincardine & Mearns and form part of the Aberdeen Wellbeing Festival. Please email Carol Leslie: CCIC_Admin@chapeltonlife.co.uk to register your place.
