Chapelton Easter Egg Hunt

Come and join our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 20th April.

We’ve hidden eggs all around the town and you’ll need to solve the clues to know where to find them before collecting your prize!

There will be egg decorating and face painting for the kids as well.

11am-2pm.

£2 per child (all money raised going to Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation.)


Spring Decluttering Event

Aberdeen’s answer to Marie Kondo is coming to Chapelton to help you declutter, tidy and organise your home.

In line with the frenzy that has followed the hit Netflix documentary ‘Tidying Up with Marie Kondo’, we are bringing Gaby from decluttering and organising blog Life In Eight to Chapelton, to run two interactive workshops set to help you clear your home of clutter, maximise storage and organise your rooms.

Join us on 23rd March in the home of a Chapelton resident where Gaby will work her way through the house providing detailed hints and tips that you can take away to keep your home spick and span.

Important Information

  • There will be two, one hour sessions on 23rd March – one at 11am and one at 3pm with space for twelve attendees in each session.
  • Attendees will meet outside Teacake at Hume Square ten minutes before each session where they will be taken to the home.

Chapelton 10K and Kids Run 2019

Thanks to the success of last year’s event, the Chapelton 10K will be returning on the 14th July.

With all proceeds being donated to local charities, this fun for all the family event is sponsored by Hall Morrice, with medals for the adults being sponsored by WM Donald and Brio Retirement Living sponsoring medals for children taking part in the 1km kids run and 100m toddler dash.

The Route

Starting from Hume Square at 11am, the multi-terrain race will take entrants through the beautiful Elsick House estate before finishing up in Chapelton.

To ensure fun for all the family, and organised by Friends of Newtonhill, there will be a 100m toddler dash for under 5s and a 1km race for primary school children. For more information and to pre-register email ChapeltonFONRun@gmail.com.

Important Information

  • Registration will take place between 9am-10.30am with a safety briefing at 10.55am
  • Refreshments will be served in Hume Square after the race for all runners and available for spectators to purchase throughout.
  • There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finisher, 1st male and female under 18, over 40, over 50 and over 60. All finishers will receive a unique medal.

Christmas in Chapelton

Time: 5.30-8pm

Location: Hume Square

Join us for an evening of festivities in Chapelton as we spread some seasonal cheer. Starting at Hume Square, we will be switching on Christmas trees, decorated by the children of Newtonhill Primary School, before hosting the town’s very first Christmas fair at Nether Cairnhill Steading. Delicious food and drinks will be on offer including mince pies and a festive tipple, as well as a selection of Christmas crafts for those looking to treat loved ones to an extra special gift.

 Christmas is a time for giving back, so all proceeds raised from the event will go towards Pillar Kincardine, a charity dedicated to promoting positive mental health.

Halloween at Chapelton

We have a spooky programme of activities in store for residents and visitors to Chapelton over the Halloween weekend. Prepare to be treated (not tricked) to a whole host of fun events suitable for all ages.

Saturday 27th October

We will kick things off on Saturday the 27th of October, where Hume Square will be transformed into a pumpkin patch filled with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes allowing visitors to select their own pumpkin before heading to the carving workshop which will take place in the Chapelton Community Interest Cabin.

Carving sets and templates will be provided to help you and / or your children get creative and make your scariest, or most beautiful, design! Or alternatively – if you’d like to freestyle it – you are very welcome to design your own.

Delicious and healthy refreshments will be available throughout the day courtesy of the Liberty Kitchen’s food truck pop-up, serving up tasty autumnal vegetable soups, seasonal bakes and hot drinks.

Sunday 28th of October

 To round up our eerie weekend, join us on our Bat and Moth Walk as we take on Chapelton after dark. Led by the Ranger Service, we will be setting off at 6pm with our Halloween lanterns guiding the way.

Chapelton Family Fun Day

This event was on: Saturday 11 August 2018

Join us for a summer extravaganza which is set to make the town buzz as residents come together to throw an afternoon of fun-filled activities for the whole community.

Throughout the course of the afternoon there will be a number of activities which both residents and visitors can drop into including:

  • Face painting in the Chapelton Community Interest Cabin
  • Cove Honey Bees – come along and visit their stall with a range of locally sourced products including their own honey. They will also have a display hive on show so that people can learn more about life inside the hive, whilst they all remain safely enclosed.
  • Treasure Hunt – clue sheets will be handed out to attendees on the day
  • One Pet Vet Stop Shop

Donations made on the day will go to Mrs Murray’s Cat and Dog Home

The Locked Door Escape Games at Chapelton

Think you’ve got what it takes to race against the clock and save Aberdeen from an evil genius? Then Chapelton needs you!

The Locked Door will be running its latest mini game series this November in The Cabin, giving you and your friends the chance to solve clues and engage in some friendly competition.

Mission D.A.S.H will put your knowledge to the test, splitting you into two teams of security services tasked to solve clues and help stop evil Dr. Paine from targeting Aberdeen’s oil bases with satellite missiles.

Escape Games is perfect for families, friends and even make corporate team building events.

The Rooms

  • Two mini games will run at the same time in Room 1 and Room 2 in The Cabin
  • Each game lasts 30 minutes
  • There are five available spaces in each room

Important Info

  • Mission D.A.S.H will run from 1st – 4th November
  • To ensure a private game simply book all five spaces
  • If you want to race friends, make sure to book out both Room 1 and Room 2
  • Make sure to arrive 5 – 10 minutes before the game for briefing

Summer Wine Tasting

Join Cairn O’ Mohr for an evening of summer wine tasting. Learn about a selection of grapes grown across the globe as well as the history of this Perthshire winery whilst sampling seven wines, a non-alcoholic drink and some bubbly.

The staff from Cairn O’ Mohr will take guests through a tutoured wine tasting in an events marquee located alongside the Brio sales suite, at Liddell Hut. The perfect way to spend a summer’s evening.

Chapelton Bike Ride

This event was on: Sunday 02 September 2018

The Chapelton Bike Ride is set to return for its third year on Sunday 2nd September.

People of all ages are welcome to enjoy this fun-filled day which will once again raise much-needed funds for local charity North East Sensory Services.

The Routes

  • The Bike Ride, sponsored by Burness Paull, will begin at 10:30am with the 42 mile route taking in Chapelton, Durris Forest and the village of Stonehaven
  • A shorter 12 mile route will start at 12pm with participants cycling in and around Chapelton’s roads and pathways
  • A 5km Chapelton Trail walk, sponsored by Brio Retirement Living, will begin shortly after 12pm offering those keen to take part in a less strenuous challenge to stretch their legs and also provide younger children with an activity through the grounds of nearby Elsick House

Food, Drink and Entertainment

  • The cycling and walking activities will be followed by live music, a selection of stalls selling local produce and entertainment from Northsound’s Michael Macdermid

Entry Fees

  • Individual registration costs £15 for the 42 mile route per person or £5 per person for the 12 mile route
  • Team entry for four people is available at a reduced rate of £50 for the longer route and £15 for the 12 mile route
  • All pre-registered riders will receive a free T-shirt and goodie bag
  • An additional fee of £5 will be applied to those registering on the day. Registration closes on 31st August
  • The Chapelton Trail walk is free for all participants
