Meet the Project Manager: Fraser Walker from AJC Homes

We caught up with Fraser Walker, AJC’s Project Manager at Chapelton, to get an inside look at life on site. From overseeing busy sites and ensuring every stage runs smoothly, to handing over keys to delighted homeowners, Fraser shares what makes his role so rewarding, what he loves about Chapelton and what makes AJC homes unique.

What is your role within the AJC team?

“I’m the Project Manager with overall responsibility for all three sites here at Chapelton. I oversee every aspect of the development – from planning and procuring materials to managing programmes, coordinating teams, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality. My role covers every stage of the build, from the first digger breaking ground to laying the foundations and finally handing over the completed plots to our clients. Everything that happens on site ultimately falls under my direction.”

How long have you worked for AJC?

“I started working as a Project Manager for AJC in July last year. However, I previously worked at Chapelton for another developer for three years, so I already had significant experience and knowledge of the town.”

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

“The most rewarding part is definitely handing the homes over to the clients and seeing their faces when they walk into the finished properties for the first time. A lot of hard work goes into building each house, so seeing their smiles as they take ownership is undoubtedly the best part of my role.”

What does a typical day on site look like for you?

“Every day is different and my work is very much dependent on the weather. On a good day, I’m typically on site by 6:30am, which gives me some quiet time to work through paperwork and catch up on emails. The team usually arrives around 7am – we usually have a couple of briefings and check the drawings. After that, I spend most of the day outside, walking around to ensure everyone is safe and everything is on track. The role is very much site-based rather than office-based.”

What do you love most about Chapelton?

“I like the family feel of Chapelton; it reminds me of a quaint Cornish fishing village with its colourful homes. There’s definitely a huge sense of community here – whether you work or live here, you’re constantly bumping into people you know and saying hello. When I’m walking down the street, I often see people for whom we’ve built houses and they remember my face and my name. They always say, “Hi Fraser, how are you? How’s your family?” – so it’s really nice!”

Has there been any standout moments or milestones during your time at Chapelton?

“The biggest milestones have been handing over the first homes at both Nether Cairnhill and Benton Crescent – and we have a lot more handovers coming this month. There was a couple recently who were able to move in just before the birth of their twins, so it was lovely to have been part of the process and hand over their home before such an important milestone in their lives.”

Tell us about your favourite housetype that’s on offer at Chapelton?

“I really like the Hamilton housetype at Benton Crescent. It’s a fantastic 4 bedroom home, with a charming exterior, a detached double garage, a generous family and dining area, and a spacious master bedroom with plenty of storage and an ensuite – it’s the perfect family home!”

What is unique about the homes built by AJC?

“The housetypes at our Chapelton development are completely unique to the town, but one thing remains consistent across our developments: we build high-quality homes. It’s simple – you can visit our showhome and see the quality for yourself.

“Our kitchens are high-spec, imported from Germany, and our sanitaryware is top quality too – we’ve recently incorporated it to be wall-hung based on client feedback.
